Titanic violin sold in auction

A violin believed to have been played on the Titanic before it sank, has been sold for more that $1.9 million NZD.

The instrument is now unplayable due to water damage but was believed to be owned by bandmaster Wallace Hartley, who was among the disaster’s more than 1,500 victims.

The story of Hartley’s band, which continued playing on the ship’s deck until the disaster’s final hour, is a memorable part of James Cameron’s “Titanic”  movie.

Many experts believe that this price will not be beaten for sometime.

The violin has been subject to numerous tests to check its authenticity since it was discovered in 2006.

A key which opened a life-jacket locker on the Titanic has been sold for £85,000 (NZ$144,000).

The locker key had belonged to third-class steward Sidney Sedunary, from Berkshire, who perished when the Titanic went down in April 1912, after hitting an iceberg.

The key had been predicted to fetch up to £50,000. However, auctioneer Andrew Aldridge said the amount the key finally sold for “reflected its importance and unique nature”.

The key was among  200 items from the Titanic that were on sale at an auction in Devizes.

My favourite games would probably be Lego lord of the rings, Lego the hobbit, Roblox titanic and Fortnite. My favourite food would be Mc donalds, Burger king, KFC, Lollies and Chocolate. Some places I've been are Cape reinga, Spirits bay, Auckland, Taupo and Australia which comes to my best holiday. Me and my family went to Australia for a holiday we went to t he gold coast and stayed in a hotel called magic mountain it had three pools and the massive main pool. We went to movie world and wet n wild they're both theme parks and I think I enjoyed movie world the best because it had such cool rides and it was the best theme park I had ever been to! I went to Australia in march 2017. But I am going to Fiji in September 2019 and I wonder if it will take the lead with my favourite holiday? I think it will because our resort will be right on the beachfront. But I do think that Fiji will be my favourite holiday.
