Telescope on Tinkercad
Our task for literacy was to create a telescope in real life or on Tinkercad. I wanted to try Tinkercad because I've never tried it before. I never knew how to use Tinkecad before. I found it challenging sometimes because it was 3D not 2D like what I use on Google Drawings. But in the end I found it fun trying something new because you can see all around the telescope.

Something Alive (Storyboard And Summary)
This story is about a girl who is most probably a teenager who was born in New Zealand. Her grandmother used to live in Japan but moved to New Zealand. Her grandmother now calls New Zealand home. But her granddaughter thinks that she isn’t just a full New Zealander. At school people ask her Japanese questions and expect her to know it but she doesn’t because she wasn’t born in Japan or even visited Japan. Her grandmother keeps inspiring her to read Japanese and write Japanese. She explains herself a badly translated haiku that doesn't mean the same in English. In the end she has learned from her grandmother a lot and she will keep learning.

Dream Bedroom
This is my dream bedroom. It is a bit boring but this is all I could think of. I have made a wave on one of my pictures to show I like surfing. Next to my bed is supposed to be a book shelf. In the other room there is a table with a Chromebook on it where I do some work at home. I also have some train pictures up to also show that I like trains.

Close To The Edge (Animation And Summary)
Opal and her mother are walking along a long dusty track on the side of a cliff hoping to find a new home. They are starving and thirsty. Suddenly they see a town on fire and smoke rising into the sky! As they keep walking down the track Opal sees a crack in the mountain and looks at it. Her mother has already moved on down the track. She can just fit through it so she walks through the crack into a cave. She keeps walking and steps in something. Something wet. Something that wraps around her ankles. And she knows exactly what it is.

My name is Rez (Summary)
My name is Rez
WALT: Visualise and summarise the text in our own words
Rez’s family is from Kurdish. Her dad was fleeing from Turkey to Iran. After her grandma died in an explosion her mum moved to Iran too. And then her dad and her mum met and got married and had kids. 1 of the kids was Rez. They were in a camp of Refugees in Iran and they had to stay in 1 tent with 6 other families! They wanted to leave the camp so they jumped into the back of a truck and crossed the border to Pakistan. And had an idea of moving to New Zealand. When they arrived in New Zealand they were shocked on how there was no rubbish on the streets. Pakistan was badly polluted and when they saw this it was like a whole nother world to them. Rez never really learned how to speak English the only thing she could say in English was ‘’my name is Rez’’. So at her new school in Auckland people would ask her “how are you” and she would reply with “um my name is Rez?” and people would just laugh at her. Now she works as a youth advisor in Auckland city.

Josef Landau
Josef Landau I choose to draw Josef because I found the chapters about him more interesting than the others. My favourite chapter of Josef so far is probably On a train to Hamburg (1 day from home). I am excited to read the next chapter Somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean (6 days from home). What is your favourite character in this story?

Syrian Study
Syria
I enjoyed learning about Syria because I got to learn about their culture like what type of food they eat and the sports they play in Syria.
I like Syria because their climate is very hot and they don't get much rain at all during the year.
I dislike Syria because of all the war going on there. I also dislike Syria because of all the environmental issues they have there like deforestation.

Cuban Study
Cuba
I enjoyed learning about Cuba because I didn't know anything about Cuba before. I also learned about famous Cuban people and learning about famous landmarks in Cuba.
I like Cuba because of the beautiful water colour they have there. What I also like about Cuba is the scenic and historic landmarks in Cuba.
The only thing that I dislike about Cuba is how their old prime minister Fidel Castro isolated the country from the world. He wouldn't let them have cellphones and the would still have old cars from the 1960s.

German Study
Germany
I have learned that Germany has changed their flag a few times in the past. I have also learned about their climate for the year. They have cloudy winters and warm summers.
I like Germany because I feel I have a connection because I'm part German. What I also quite like about Germany is their food because when I was researching about it I found out they love to eat food with beef in it which I also love.
The only thing I dislike about Germany is when World War Two happened when Adolf Hitler tried to take over the world.

Maori Gods
WALT: write to describe Nga Atua Maori relate to us.
This term, Huia Whanau have been talking about Maori gods. The first thing we did was a bus stop activity to find out what we already knew. We then read the creation story and re-told it in our own creative way. I chose to work collaboratively with Louie, Kade, and I to make an animation. As a class, we identified some important Atua (gods): Rongo ma tane, Maui, Ruaumoko, Tumatauenga, Tawhirimatea, and Tangaroa. As a class we then started working on some collaborative art where we coloured in a section of a Maori god after deciding on different colour codes for different gods. On Wednesday, we learnt about the different feeling and emotions of the different gods. Also on Wednesday Miss Fleet taught us a song about the Maori gods. I would like to know who is your favourite Maori god?

Respect
03/2/2020
WALT: create a quality blog post of an audience, using correct sentence punctuation
To me Respect means to have a good learning attitude and being mature in class time. Respect could also mean ''don't say anything if you have got nothing nice to say". Respect might also look like treating something or someone respectfully. For an example if someone has a Chromebook and they are getting it out of the cabinet for you and they just drop it on the table your sitting at that would be the exact opposite of what respect would look like. Respect also means using your manners like
"Thank you,'' ''Please''.

Elton John Concert
On Sunday the 16th of February I went to Elton John's concert at Mt Smart Stadium! Halfway through the concert the doctor came on stage and talked to Elton for about 2-3 minutes after Levon. Here are all the songs that I saw:
1. Bennie And The Jets
2. All The Girls Love Alice
3. I Guess Thats Why They Call It The Blues
4. Border Song
5. Tiny Dancer
6. Philadelphia Freedom
7. Indian Sunset
8. Rocket Man
9. Take Me To The Pilot
10. Someone Saved My Life Tonight
11. Levon
12. Candle In The Wind
13. Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding
14. Daniel
At the start of Daniel Elton tried to sing but he could no more. He sounded like he lost his voice. Then he broke down and started crying because he so upset he couldn't finish the show. Then he walked off stage and a minute later we saw his car race past us. I think we are really lucky to even see him in real life.

Team Building 2
WALT: Work together as a team
On Tuesday The whole class got into 3 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 5 my group was a group of five. But the challenge today was making the tallest or the strongest tower out of skewers and marshmallows. At the end our tower ended like a crane that couldn't stand up right. Then a couple of seconds later the arm fell onto the table as if it was going to pick up something and then lift back up but sadly it didn't.
